Cadillac Super Cruise Expansion

In 2017, Cadillac debuted the first-ever totally hands-free driver-assistant feature on the 2018 Cadillac CT6. With Cadillac Super Cruise, the luxury sedan can stay in its lane and maintain its speed without requiring the driver to do anything but stay alert with their eyes on the road.

This summer, Cadillac announced its plan to make the Super Cruise hands-free driving feature available across its entire lineup. This expansion will begin in 2020, and after Super Cruise is available in all Cadillac vehicles it will begin making its way into other GM models.

Super Cruise is just one of the many products to come from a company that is dedicated to producing innovative amenities that can enhance the driver’s experience. The system uses precision LiDAR map data for over 130,000 miles of limited-access freeways as well as precise GPS, cameras, and sensors in order to operate the vehicle on its own. It’s smart enough to detect when the driver needs to pay more attention, so it is safe as well as efficient.

Super Cruise will allow drivers in all Cadillac vehicles to relax and sit more comfortably when driving on the highway, which is just another way in which each Cadillac vehicle can provide superior comfort.

Cadillac Super Cruise™ – A Hands-Free Driving System

Car lovers can’t stop talking about Cadillac Super Cruise™, an innovative new technology that is changing the way cars drive. Super Cruise™ is the world’s first truly hands-free driving system. It can only be used on limited-access freeways that are separated from opposing traffic, though many are hoping that the system is soon able to work in all conditions.

How does it work? According to Cadillac, Super Cruise™ activates several existing driver assist technologies in order to control the vehicle and keep you safe. For instance, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) is turned on to monitor the cars in front of you, and Forward Collision System is set to “alert” and “brake.” Cameras and radar are activated, and there’s even a system to ensure that the driver appears attentive. Essentially, you turn on all the intelligent safety systems, keep yourself alert, and let the car do the driving.

Cadillac has proprietary head-movement-tracking technology to make sure that you appear alert at all times. Super Cruise™ doesn’t perform all aspects of driving, and it doesn’t do everything that a driver can or should do. That’s why it will alert you if you should need to take control of the vehicle. Super Cruise™ also won’t do things like change lanes or operate around road obstacles like construction.

Nevertheless, as long as you’re on a limited-access freeway, Super Cruise™ will provide an enjoyable and safe experience like never before. At Trent Cadillac, we can’t wait to see what Cadillac develops next.

Cadillac Super Cruise Technology Coming to CT6 This Fall

The new Cadillac Super Cruise technology, a self-driving system that lets the driver operate the car hands-free, will debut on the 2018 Cadillac CT6 this fall.

Super Cruise is Cadillac’s answer to similar Autopilot systems. It lets the driver safely do other tasks while driving, such as make phone calls. The car still needs driver feedback in certain situations, though, so it uses a camera to monitor your eyeline and alerts you if it detects that you’re looking away from the road for too long.

Using a suite of sophisticated driver assist technologies, the Super Cruise system on the CT6 will monitor the position and speed of other vehicles to decrease speed and engage the brakes, depending on traffic conditions.

Drivers will only be able to use Super Cruise on the highway, which simplifies the system since it doesn’t need to detect pedestrians or traffic lights. Still it works at high speeds on clear highways as well as in bumper-to-bumper traffic.

The new Super Cruise technology will further set the CT6 apart from other entries in the luxury sedan segment and boost its popularity among drivers looking for the latest driver assist and self-driving technologies.
