Here’s How to Deal With Flood Damage

Not all car problems are created equal, and perhaps the most frustrating car problem of all is dealing with the aftermath of a flood. Flooding can occur in any number of unexpected scenarios, from a heavy rain to a hurricane.

Here is a step-by-step of what to do if your vehicle should become flooded:

  1. Take stock of all potential damage. Look at how deep the floodwaters are in comparison to your car. Note what type of water it is: saltwater will be more damaging to your vehicle than freshwater.
  2. Do NOT start your car. If you ignite your engine after it’s been flooded, you will only cause more damage.
  3. Act fast. No matter what type of water you’re dealing with, corrosion can occur before you know it. Start drying out your vehicle immediately. If you need to move your car out of the flooded area, contact a towing company to have it moved. Note that before you tow, you may need to drain your oil and transmission fluid, depending on the severity of the flood.
  4. Lift the hood. Here is where you’ll find all the clues to determine how severe the flooding was. Check the dipstick for water droplets. Remove any cylinders with water contact and check for corrosion.
  5. Clean out the cabin of your vehicle. You will want to remove as much moisture as you can as quickly as possible. Use a wet vacuum to remove standing water and rags to absorb all water that has soaked into fabric seating or carpeting. If you can, remove the seats, cushions, and mats for extensive drying.
  6. Check the fuel. There may be water inside the fuel tank. You will likely need to flush out all old fuel and replace it with fresh gasoline.

Schedule an appointment with Trent Cadillac’s service department for comprehensive repairs, and your trusty ride will be back up-to-snuff in no time.

This year, the 38th annual Masquerade: A Candle Christmas Celebration will take place on December 8th and December 15th from 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Tryon Palace. Here, you’ll be able to step out in all your Yuletide finery and bask in the gorgeous holiday decor all around the breathtaking grounds of Tryon Palace. The Masquerade covers the entire expansive grounds of the Palace, which means you can enjoy your evening by taking a tour of the esteemed property, taking part in the lawn activities, or just enjoying some beverages, food, and dancing. Ditch the Candy—and the Trip to the Dentist—with These Healthy Halloween Alternatives

When someone mentions Halloween, many of us can’t help but immediately think of candy. Unfortunately, getting a month’s supply of candy all at once isn’t necessarily the healthiest thing for children. This year, try out one or more of these healthy Halloween alternatives that kids are sure to love—and which won’t cause cavities!

Fruit

Fruit is nature’s candy, and as such, it’s a perfect Halloween treat. It also makes a great snack for kids to bite into while they’re out trick or treating.

Stickers

Kids love stickers, and they are a wonderful alternative to candy. Stickers are also very inexpensive and can be bought in bulk easily, so you don’t have to skimp on them when passing them out.

Key Chains

Key chains are another fun alternative to Halloween candy. It’s cheap and easy to buy a variety of small key chains that kids will enjoy picking out.

Activity Pads

A piece of candy is gone in a matter of seconds. An inexpensive activity pad, on the other hand, lasts hours and can be educational as well as healthier than candy.

Temporary Tattoos

Finally, consider stocking up on temporary tattoos this Halloween. On a holiday that is all about dressing up, temporary tattoos make a perfect treat for excited ghouls and goblins at your door.

Here at Trent Cadillac in New Bern, we hope you and your crew have a spirited Halloween.

Cadillac Super Cruise Expansion

In 2017, Cadillac debuted the first-ever totally hands-free driver-assistant feature on the 2018 Cadillac CT6. With Cadillac Super Cruise, the luxury sedan can stay in its lane and maintain its speed without requiring the driver to do anything but stay alert with their eyes on the road.

This summer, Cadillac announced its plan to make the Super Cruise hands-free driving feature available across its entire lineup. This expansion will begin in 2020, and after Super Cruise is available in all Cadillac vehicles it will begin making its way into other GM models.

Super Cruise is just one of the many products to come from a company that is dedicated to producing innovative amenities that can enhance the driver’s experience. The system uses precision LiDAR map data for over 130,000 miles of limited-access freeways as well as precise GPS, cameras, and sensors in order to operate the vehicle on its own. It’s smart enough to detect when the driver needs to pay more attention, so it is safe as well as efficient.

Super Cruise will allow drivers in all Cadillac vehicles to relax and sit more comfortably when driving on the highway, which is just another way in which each Cadillac vehicle can provide superior comfort.

Cadillac Headquarters Set to Stay in New York City

Cadillac Location

When General Motors replaced Johan de Nysschen with Cadillac’s new boss, Steve Carlisle, many people speculated that Cadillac might be moving out of New York City and return to its original home in Detroit. Well, it looks like that just isn’t the case – Cadillac is staying in the Big Apple.

Carlisle recently confirmed that Cadillac headquarters will not be leaving its current location. In fact, GM’s executives and analysts all agree that New York remains the perfect place for Cadillac to remain. Carlisle even went as far as to say that he will commute to Detroit or any other location as needed to ensure that Cadillac is a top-selling luxury brand.

“It’s 100 percent that we’re staying here, that was never a question,” said Andrew Lipman, Cadillac spokesman in New York. He went on to state, “New York made sense because it’s the epicenter of where luxury trends are made.”

Currently, the brand’s New York office, called Cadillac House, works as a hub of these trends. Not only does it have a coffee house and display cars throughout its lobby, but it also holds events. For instance, its partnership with the Council of Fashion Designers of America allows a different fashion designer to curate the building’s event space every three months and hold events there.

Despite its New York location, Cadillac’s vehicles will continue to be designed and engineered in the Detroit area. We here at Trent Cadillac wouldn’t have it any other way.

Check Out the Current Lineup of Cadillac Concept Vehicles

Concept vehicles are a unique way for automakers to foreshadow the future design direction of the brand and to try out some truly out-of-the-box ideas. These vehicles are typically not manufactured as is, but they often influence the design of current and upcoming models. So what does the current lineup of Cadillac concept vehicles include?

Cadillac Escala

Escala is Spanish for “scale,” a clever name as the Escala concept is meant to accentuate Cadillac’s classic proportion while bringing it into the future. Signature elements of the Cadillac Escala concept include OLED lighting, a bold grille, cashmere door trim and seating, and more premium materials like leather, brushed aluminum, and American walnut.

Cadillac Elmiraj

The Elmiraj grand coupe concept hints at the future of two-door coupe design. With a nod to the classic El Dorado, the Elmiraj is elegant, yet athletic, with wide swinging doors and a long wheelbase. Interior materials include handpicked fallen Brazilian Rosewood and cut-and-sewn camel leather.

Cadillac Ciel

The open-air Cadillac Ciel convertible concept reimagines the classic design of large four-seat convertibles and catapults it into the future. The Ciel concept takes its name from the French word for “sky.” Its exterior is boldly styled with large rear-hinged doors, a long body, and a short nose.

Here at Trent Cadillac, we look forward to seeing how Cadillac incorporates elements from these concept vehicles into it future lineup.
